Microsoft migration futureproofs fast-growing retail group.

Founded in 1991 by CEO Iain Burgess, BVG Group is an expert multi-channel retailer of clothing, home and garden products, sports nutrition and fishing tackle. Marketing via six key channels, the retailer has 19 brands to its name and is flourishing year on year, winning multiple awards including Excellence in Growth and Welsh Exporter of the Year.

Already partnering with Bistech for their business-critical networks and contact centre technology, in 2019, BVG Group needed to review their wider IT strategy. With an ageing on-premise email server struggling to cope with rapid growth, it was essential for the business to modernise.

Working closely with BVG, Bistech devised a Microsoft solution that would help futureproof the business and deliver a more collaborative way of working. After a quick and streamlined roll out, 300 users were migrated from the old email server and Office 365 up to the full Microsoft Office Premium model.

The new solution is increasing productivity company-wide, with remote working, file sharing and co-editing readily available. The buy-in across the teams has been quick and people are communicating much more effectively, improving the business immeasurably.

Equally, as established retailers, security is paramount for BVG, who make over one million online transactions a year. Understanding their requirements under PCI DSS and GDPR, Bistech implemented a solution combining the power of Microsoft and Mimecast, to give BVG better visibility and total peace of mind.

Another major benefit is the consolidation of disparate systems and reduction of on-site hardware, saving BVG both time and money. The fully integrated solution is now less resource heavy whilst hosted in the cloud, meaning BVG’s IT team can focus on more strategic activities.
