Empowering our employees.

Research has shown that 1 in 4 people in the UK will suffer with some sort of mental health issue at any one time. Mental health is not a minority issue. It touches almost everyone and can impact their ability to enjoy and live life to the full. And the stigma attached to mental health is one of the biggest factors stopping individuals from talking about issues they may be facing, as they feel they may not be supported, or may be seen differently by their peers.

In the UK, just 16% of employees feel comfortable to disclose a mental health issue to their manager1.

Here at Bistech, we want to challenge this and ensure all our employees feel comfortable to talk about mental health. So, we’re taking a proactive approach and building a positive mental health culture across the whole business.

One of the ways we’ve been doing this is through our company-wide Mental Health Awareness Training. Within these sessions we’ve been discussing what mental health is and the risk factors associated with it. We’ve also identified the common signs and symptoms to watch out for, and how employees can work together to build a positive mental health culture in the workplace.

We’re dedicated to supporting our employees. Our Employee Assistance Programme gives our people access to confidential advice and support, as well as free counselling sessions. We will also be holding wellbeing training which will focus on techniques to help build personal resilience and manage pressure more effectively. We’re proud of the strong and supportive culture that we’ve created and are truly committed to promoting mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.
